Vince Zampella, the mind behind the globally famous franchise Call of Duty, has passed away in a car accident in California he was 55 years old.

His passing was verified by Electronic Arts, the publisher that controls Respawn Entertainment, the development studio that he helped create.

The renowned video game developer lost his life when his car crashed and caught fire on a freeway in the Los Angeles area on Sunday morning, according to.

"We are facing a devastating loss, and our hearts are with Vince's loved ones, his loved ones, and everyone impacted by his creative vision," an official with Electronic Arts said.
