Legendary skier Lindsey Vonn has declared she will be "perfectly prepared" for the upcoming Winter Olympics, after earning a top-three finish for the fourth time in five World Cup races. The 41-year-old, who last week set a record by becoming the oldest downhill World Cup winner, came in third place in the super giant slalom in Val d'Isere on Sunday. This represented her one hundred and forty-second career World Cup top-three result. Strong Return in Val d'Isere Returning to the French Alps resort for the first time in almost a decade, Vonn finished the course in a time of 1:20.60. She was 0.36 seconds behind winner Sofia Goggia of Italy, with New Zealand's Alice Robinson securing second place. "I didn't quite have the right line on the first jump," the skier commented. "Subsequently, I skied well. I'm satisfied with my run today, in contrast to in the super-G in St Moritz, where I was not aggressive enough." This performance was her second top-three finish at Val d'Isere over the weekend, having also claimed bronze in the downhill race on Saturday. An Incredible Return from Injury Vonn stepped away from competition in February 2019 as a result of ongoing knee problems. However, she staged a competitive comeback in late 2024 after a partial knee replacement. With just over six weeks remaining until the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, which are set to run from 6-22 February, Vonn's performances are timely. She has one gold and two Olympic bronze medals in her collection and is strongly positioned to compete for the United States at the 2026 Games. "In Cortina, I will be in a good place," Vonn affirmed. Chasing More Titles Alongside her Games aspirations, Vonn is also hoping to add to the four World Cup titles she has secured over a professional journey spanning two decades. She presently enjoys a substantial lead at the top of the overall downhill standings and is sitting in fifth place in the overall super-G standings. This season's World Cup campaign includes a nine more events taking place before the season finals in Kvitfjell, Norway on 21 March 2026.
