Edwards and Gary O'Neil are two of the early names in the frame to replace Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The previous coach was sacked on Sunday following the squad's ten-game winless beginning to the top-flight campaign.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have previous links to the team - are among the options to be considered by the club leadership.

Edwards is currently at another club, which would create a potential obstacle to his hiring at Wolves' stadium.

However the ex- Luton manager - who played over a century of games for the club during his time as a player - is said to be a strong candidate for the position.

The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys backing from the Wolves board as they start the process of hiring a new head coach.

Gary O'Neil is also emerging as a unexpected candidate, even though he would be a shock choice considering he was sacked by Wolves in December last year.

The ex- West Ham United midfielder is currently unemployed which means Wolves would not need to provide any compensation.
