The families of young people missing after a devastating fire at a venue in a Swiss winter destination are confronting an agonising wait for confirmed information and pleading for any details about their loved ones publicly.

The fire devastated the Le Constellation bar in Cans-Montana, located in the Alps of the Valais region, in the early hours of the first day of the year. Confirmed footage reveal the roof structure being engulfed in flames as beverages with sparklers are raised in celebration.

Officials have warned that it could take considerable time to identify the those who perished of the fire, which killed numerous partygoers and wounded another 119. A spokesperson stated on the latest update that 113 of the injured have been identified, with work continuing to name the final individuals.

In the meantime, relatives have been taking to the internet to appeal for clues about their friends who were present at the venue that evening.
