Hulu is Producing a Popular Game TV Series from the Producers of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.

The most recent action-packed game that gamers dived into was Far Cry 6, that featured Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and debuted during October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it has a reputation for celebrating violence and mayhem with equal enthusiasm, all while telling gripping, socially charged narratives. It’s no surprise that FX's decision for a Far Cry limited-run show attracted two producers whose creations have exemplified all of those things.

What to Expect

Inspired by Ubisoft's successful video game franchise, the limited anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The series will also parallel the video games' format by introducing a different backdrop and ensemble in subsequent series.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as lead producers on the series via their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

We’ve shared outstanding collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are working together for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is original, compelling, and wildly entertaining. We also want to thank our associates at Ubisoft for trusting us with this cherished property.”

Cast and Future Plans

Mac will also feature in the show, but at the time of writing, we are unsure of what part that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago renewed for more episodes, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new overall deal with the showrunner.

“Getting to work alongside Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most renowned video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX family constantly supports me with their ongoing belief and support.”

“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an standalone show. Every instalment is a interpretation of a theme, the same way every series of Fargo is a adaptation on a premise,” noted Hawley. “To develop a large-scale action show that can shift from year to year, while always exploring the essence of people through this multifaceted and chaotic perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m excited to partner with Rob and present our mutual unconventional, ambitious style to the television.”

A schedule for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
